Two panels of experienced entrepreneurs and venture capitalists
meet with undergraduates thinking about the entrepreneurial way
of life. Below are the scheduled speakers for The
Young Entrepreneurs (Panel I), and Entrepreneur's
Support: Show Me the Product--and I'll Show You the Money! (Panel
II).
The
Young Entrepreneurs Conference is the fourth annual Undergraduate
Convocation, developed by the Leavey School's faculty commitee known
as the Undergraduate Leadership Team, in conjunction
with Dr. Henry Demmert, associate dean of undergradate business
programs, and Ms. Jo-Anne Shibles, assistant dean for service learning
and leadership development.

Lori
Leahy
Co-founder and CFO for ConceptLabs
CLI was incorporated in Virginia in 1993 and established
to service the growing needs of the information industry. CLI is
a technology-driven computer firm which provides the following services:
Database Management, Web-Site Development and Management, Middleware
Development, Human Resources and Technical Training. Lori holds
her MBA from Santa Clara University and currently serves on SCU's
MBA Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Michael
Meinhardt
Co-Founder of Venture Standard (formerly freePrivateCapital.com)
Michael focused his efforts on the strategic business development
activities of the company, initiating, securing, and managing relationships
with leading destination web sites. Currently, Michael is employed
by SmartForce, an e-Learning company, where he specializes in developing
strategic relationships, as well as investment and acquisition strategies.
Prior to Venture Standard, Michael spent two years as an intern
with US Bancorp Piper Jaffray in the Professional Services Group.
Michael earned his BS in Commerce in Finance from Santa Clara University
in 1998.
Peter
Thiel
Founder and Chairman of PayPal
In December 1998, Peter founded PayPal, which launched
its revolutionary payments service on October 22, 1999. Within one
year of its launch, PayPal became the leading eFinance site on the
Internet. Previously, Peter headed Thiel Capital Management, LLC.
He also has worked as a derivatives trader for CS Financial Products,
and as a securities lawyer for Sullivan and Cromwell. Peter received
his BA from Stanford University, and his JD from Stanford Law School.

Thaddeus
Whalen
Partner, Aspen Ventures
Aspen Ventures provides seed and early-stage capital to
West Coast information technology companies, primarily those serving
business markets. Prior to joining Aspen Ventures, Mr. Whalen spent
ten years at Price Waterhouse as a financial and accounting consultant
to technology-based companies. Mr. Whalen has a B.S. in economics
from Santa Clara University, and an MBA from Stanford University.

Deloitte and Touche
Mr. Baer will provide the financial perspective on how
to assist a company through the IPO process.
