TOP 3 TIPS FOR CAREER CHANGERS

    1. Take the time to conduct a thorough self and career assessment. Many career changers don't spend enough time asking themselves questions about what they have accomplished, what they haven't yet accomplished, what they have thoroughly enjoyed doing, what they haven't enjoyed doing, and what their career dreams are. You don't need to answer all of the questions right away, but you definitely must start asking yourself the questions about what your short-term and long-term career goals. For more information on career assessments, please visit, our self assessment website.

    2. Develop a networking strategy. You should begin the networking strategy after you have conducted a comprehensive assessment on yourself and your career path. Once you have decided on your short-term and long-term career goals, it's time to figure out who you need to contact to help you get there. Make a list of all of the personal and professional contacts you have and send them an update on what you've been doing. Invite those with whom you would like to maintain a closer relationship to coffee and/or lunch. Be specific in terms of you what you would like to do next or else they won't know how they can help you.

    3. Tap into the GB Career Services and Resources. Graduate Business Career Services has developed a whole host of resources and events to assist your job search needs. So, be sure to access the resources and the events listed above. They have been created just for you.

    4. Understand the role of chance and the potential impact it can have on your career. It can happen anywhere, at anytime, so be prepared. Unless you have done a thorough assessment, you might not recognize the right opportunity when it's presented to you. It might not be quite you had planned in your career path either, so keep your mind open to and consider different possibilities.
