Profile

John Ifcher received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley. His research and teaching interests include public finance, public policy, and microeconomic theory. His most recent research projects investigate the impact of welfare reform in New York City. Specifically, these studies attempts to identify the impact of individual components of welfare reform, such as, job training and workfare. He received a M.P.A. degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in 1993 and a B.S. in computer science and psychology from the University of Michigan in 1989. He worked for the city of New York as the Senior Advisor to the Parks Commissioner between 1993 and 1998.
